The dog who saved human lives.
Meet Rocky – a military mutt in Afghanistan that became a hero by saving countless U.S. troops from a suicide bomber. That’s right, he saved our troops and now SPCA International is trying to bring him home. Unfortunately, getting him out is not going to be easy. Read his story - we need your help to get him home!
This is just 1 of the pets trying to come back with his soldier to the USA.
Walk Facts #1
It costs about $2,400 to bring a Service Member's companion animal to America from the Middle East. These animals are so important to the men & women serving in the war zones of Iraq & Afghanistan and if the animals are left behind, it takes a toll on the morale of our Troops.
It takes a lot more money to operate an animal shelter. Our shelter serves a large geographic area. We have a large population of adoptable dogs, cats, small furry pets and large animals like goats, horses & an occasional donkey.
We have a very small staff that does a super-human job 365 days of the year. Our community is very supportive by helping us with donations of food, cleaning supplies and money. We are supported by private donations (no government money) and contracts with our towns to house strays that the Animal Control Officers bring in.
The Humane Society of Port Jervis is always there to care for abandoned or surrendered animals. We give them aid and comfort, a clean place to sleep and good food to eat while they await their forever home.
Please help Lynne help support her Humane Society and help bring a Baghdad Pup home to the USA.
